Oh my god this driving thing is too easy now.

I never got around to posting this but my power steering pump failed me two weeks ago while visiting Asheville NC. I had to drive back through the mountains with no power steering and back today 200 miles to home (from university) to fix it. I got used to the weight of the steering so now when I turn the wheel it feels so light.

I ordered a re-manufactured pump which oddly enough had a sticker on it that said “re-manufactured for GM” even though it’s a BMW pump.

Part went on east, only took about an hour to change. Steering has never been easier.

I did a power steering pump on my buddy’s pontiac Grand Prix. It took me 4 god dammed hours to do it and the “new remanufatured” pump whines like a mofo. I’ve bled the system 3 times so I know there is no air in it yet I can’t get rid of the whine. With my luck it’s a faulty pump and I’ll have to do it all over again.

I was surprised that the pump was so cheap. It’s an oem rebuilt one from AC Delco which only cost $103 after the core charge. Not bad for a BMW part.
